Remove solid-colour backgrounds from images using threshold-based detection. Upload an image, adjust sensitivity, and download a transparent PNG. Best for images with uniform backgrounds like white, green screen, or solid colours. AI-powered removal coming soon.
Basic removal — AI-powered removal coming soon
This tool uses threshold-based colour matching to remove solid-colour backgrounds. For best results, use images with solid colour backgrounds (white, green screen, etc.).

LevnTools Background Remove lets you edit and optimize your images directly in your browser. Processing happens partly in your browser and partly on our servers, with files deleted immediately after. Unlike cloud-only alternatives that require uploads and accounts, this tool is completely free with no usage limits or watermarks. It is designed for designers preparing assets for web and print, photographers batch-processing shots, marketers creating social media visuals — anyone who needs a fast, reliable image tool without the overhead of installing software. Just open the page and start working.
Background Remove is used by a wide range of people. Explore how different groups use this tool:
Resize images with custom dimensions, percentage, or social media presets.
Convert images between JPEG, PNG, and WebP formats in batch.
Compress images to reduce file size with adjustable quality.
Combine multiple PDF files into one document with drag-to-reorder.
Pick colors visually and convert between HEX, RGB, HSL, CMYK.
The tool detects the dominant colour in the corners of your image (assumed to be the background), then sets all pixels within a configurable colour distance threshold to transparent. Edge pixels receive partial transparency for smoother results.
Solid, uniform backgrounds work best — white, light grey, green screen, or any single colour. Gradient or complex backgrounds will not be fully removed. For those, the upcoming AI-powered feature will provide much better results.
Sensitivity controls how different a pixel can be from the detected background colour and still be removed. Low values (10-20) remove only near-exact matches. High values (50-100) remove a wider range of similar colours, which may cut into the subject.
The result is always a PNG file, which supports transparency. JPEG does not support transparency, so PNG is the only viable output format for background removal.
Yes. A machine-learning-based background removal feature is planned for a future update. It will handle complex, multi-colour, and gradient backgrounds with much higher accuracy. The current version uses a simpler threshold-based approach.
