Personal vs company banner — a common mistake
The personal background banner (1584x396) and company page banner (1128x191) are different sizes. Uploading a personal banner to a company page produces a distorted, vertically stretched result. Always check which page type you are updating.
Mobile safe zone for personal banners
On mobile, LinkedIn renders the profile photo on the right side of the banner at approximately 40% overlap. Content in the right 40% of the canvas (roughly x=950 to x=1584) risks being obscured. Left-align your primary message and use the right portion for decorative background elements only.
Format comparison
LinkedIn's banner quality versus other platforms
LinkedIn applies relatively conservative compression to banners compared to Instagram or Facebook. At 1584x396, a JPEG at 85% quality (around 200–400KB) uploads and displays cleanly without visible artefacts.
The more common quality issue on LinkedIn is pixelation from uploading at lower resolutions and having LinkedIn upscale the image to fill the banner area. Always upload at exactly 1584x396 or larger — LinkedIn will downscale a larger image cleanly but will not upscale a smaller image without blur.
For company pages, LinkedIn also displays the banner in the search results card at a reduced size. Ensure your brand mark and company name remain legible at approximately 400x64px to perform well in search card previews.

About this format
LinkedIn banners have a dimension that trips up almost every first-time creator: the right side of your banner is cropped on mobile. LinkedIn displays your profile photo on the right side of the banner on mobile screens, covering approximately 40% of the banner's right portion. Content placed in that zone — contact information, taglines, logos — disappears on mobile devices.
The safe zone is the left 60% of the 1584x396 canvas (roughly the leftmost 950px). Keep headlines, brand elements, and calls-to-action within that area. The right side can carry background imagery or colour gradients that look fine partially covered.
This is a different problem from most social platform resizing — it is not about getting the dimensions right, but about understanding where your content can safely live within those dimensions.
