Settings guide

Quality settings:

  • ·85% — Sweet spot for most conversions. Visually identical to 100% at roughly 60% smaller file size.
  • ·90% — For professional or print-destined images where maximum quality matters.
  • ·75–80% — For web images where file size is the priority.

Format-specific notes:

  • ·GIF to JPG: only the first frame is converted. Use the GIF maker or video converter for animated output.
  • ·PNG to JPG: transparent areas are replaced by a solid white background.
  • ·HEIC to JPG: see the dedicated HEIC to JPG converter for batch conversion.

Format comparison

JPG vs PNG output: If you need transparency in the output, use PNG instead — JPG cannot store transparent pixels. If the image has text, logos, or sharp edges, PNG also produces better quality. JPG is optimal for photographs and images where file size matters.

JPG vs WebP output: For web delivery, WebP is 25–35% smaller than JPG at equivalent quality. Choose JPG when maximum compatibility is required.

About this format

You have an image in some format. You need a JPG. This is the universal entry point — it accepts PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, HEIC, and more, and converts them all to the most broadly supported image format in existence.

The reason JPG matters: it opens everywhere. Every browser, every device, every email client, every operating system, every piece of software written in the last 30 years supports JPEG. When you're not sure where an image will end up or who will need to open it, JPG is the safe choice.

This converter does not care what format you start with. Drop your file, set quality, and download a JPG that works everywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Which input formats can I convert to JPG?+
PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, HEIC, and AVIF. SVG files can also be converted via the SVG to PNG tool first, then to JPG.
What happens to transparency when I convert a PNG to JPG?+
Transparency is replaced by a solid white background. JPG does not support transparency. If you need transparency in your output, use PNG or WebP format instead.
Does converting GIF to JPG preserve the animation?+
No. JPG is a static format. Only the first frame of an animated GIF is converted. For animated output, convert GIF to WebP using the format converter.
What quality setting produces the best JPG output?+
85% is the sweet spot for most images — visually identical to 100% at roughly 60% smaller file size. Use 90% for professional or print-destined images.
Are my files uploaded to a server?+
No. Runs locally in your browser.
